Cadillac is set to revolutionize the electric vehicle market with the introduction of its first performance-focused EV, the 2026 Lyriq-V. This mid-size electric SUV combines luxury, performance, and innovation, showcasing Cadillac's commitment to a fully electric future.
In a recent announcement by General Motors Australia managing director Jess Bala, it was confirmed that the Lyriq-V will be globally launched in 2025, with an Australian version scheduled for 2026. Ms. Bala expressed excitement, stating that Australia would be one of the first markets to receive this high-performance edition.
The production of the Lyriq-V will commence next year, with further details slated for release in January 2025. This model will boast all-wheel drive and is expected to deliver over 595 horsepower, significantly enhancing its performance capabilities beyond that of the standard Lyriq, which already offers a power output of 373 kW and a 0-100 km/h time of 5.3 seconds.
Despite the buzz surrounding the Lyriq-V, Cadillac has remained tight-lipped about specific technical specifications and performance metrics, indicating only that the V-Series designation represents a powerful lineage within the brand. Nevertheless, the expansion of the V-Series into the electric realm marks a pivotal shift for Cadillac as it moves away from traditional internal combustion models, focusing on a fully electric lineup and thus diversifying its offerings.
As the automotive landscape shifts towards sustainable and high-performance electric vehicles, the Cadillac Lyriq-V stands at the forefront, promising to deliver an exhilarating driving experience while aligning with modern luxury standards. With Australian deliveries of the standard Lyriq anticipated to begin as early as late 2024, the stage is set for Cadillac to make significant inroads in the electric SUV market.
